2021 Spring Regular Season Park Rules
6U-- All players will play on Defense. (*SEE NOTES)
6U-- Overthrown ball at 1st base. (**SEE NOTES)
6U-- No more than 5 runs per inning.
The game will end when a team is mathematically eliminated or time has expired. A game can end in a tie.
Time Limit: 1:15 (no new inning after 1:10) (Full game: 5 innings)
6U— A player cannot play pitcher, 1st, or shortstop more than twice in one game. (***SEE NOTES)
Penalty: Delayed dead ball, option to the Offensive team to keep the play as is or the batter runner be awarded 1st Base.
6U— Up to three (3) coaches are allowed on the field during defense.
The coaches must be positioned behind the outfielders during a live ball.
Penalty: Delayed dead ball, option to Offensive team to either keep the play as is or to negate the last pitch.
6U— An Offensive player will receive five (5) pitches, to include ball being placed on tee, before being declared out. The first three (3) pitches must be pitched by the coach to the batter, the final two (2) pitches can be pitched by the coach or placed on the tee.
Exceptions: If the fifth (5th) pitch is fouled, where the bat makes contact with the baseball and is the umpire’s discretion, the batter may continue to bat.
8U-- No more than 7 runs per inning.
The game will end when a team is mathematically eliminated or time has expired. A game can end in a tie.
(Time Limit: 1:15 (no new inning after 1:10) (Full game: 6 innings)
8U— Two (2) coaches are allowed on defense. The coaches will remain in foul territory down each foul line either even or behind the outfielders.
Penalty: Delayed dead ball, option to Offensive team to either keep the play as is or to negate the last pitch.
10U-- Dizzy Dean Pitching Rules (pitch count and days rest) will be used. A pitcher can finish current batter if pitch count is reached during the at bat.
10U-- No more than 7 runs per inning. The game will end when a team is mathematically eliminated or time has expired.
If game ends in a tie, one inning with the California rule will be in place.
Time Limit: 1:30 (no new inning after 1:25) (Full game: 6 innings)
12U-- Dizzy Dean Pitching Rules (pitch count and days rest) will be used. A pitcher can finish current batter if pitch count is reached during the at bat.
12U-- Game will end when one team is ahead by 10 runs after 4 innings or 8 runs after 5 innings.
If game ends in a tie, one inning with the California rule will be in place.
Time Limit: 1:45 (no new inning after 1:40) (Full game: 7 innings)
12U-- One (1) warning per pitcher for balks will be issued before Spring Break.
After Spring Break NO WARNINGS.
All ages—Teams may start the game and play with eight (8) players. If for any reason a team’s number of players falls below eight (8) the game will be declared a forfeit by the team with less than eight (8) players. In 6U and 8U if a team(s) only have eight (8) players they may elect not to have a catcher.
No player will sit consecutive innings (8U-12U). No player will sit more than two (2) innings per game. Exception: player is sick, injured, hurt, discipline reasons, request by player's parents. If a coach is found to be in violation of this rule, the 1st infraction will be a warning, followed by more serious penalties that will be at the discretion of the Winston Baseball Board of Directors.
California Rule: Last batted out placed on 2nd base and there will be 1 (one) out.
6U/8U- Must wear chinstraps on the batting helmet
*6U- Defense- No player will be required to sit the bench while team is on Defense. The infield positions will be filled as normal baseball, all other players will be positioned in the outfield.
**6U- Overthrown balls to 1st Base. It will be an immediate Dead Ball when there is an obvious overthrown ball to 1st base and the ball goes into Foul Territory. If the ball is overthrown to 1st base, but stays in Fair Territory, then the play will continue Live.
**6U- Defensive Positions- A player cannot play Pitcher, 1st Base or Shortstop more than twice in a game. This can be a combination of these positions or the same position. These positions will be labeled “Hot Positions”. A coach must inform each scorekeeper, either at the beginning of the game or each defensive inning, the player’s name and jersey number that are playing the Hot Positions. It is each team’s responsibility to make sure these positions are declared by the other team.
